This is a post about one of my past experiences with an audition. Which i just told my agent. What I did. How I got the part from the first ever audition I attended.
A few weeks ago i came to some realisation, and take back control of my life. I have to do something. I used to be very successful and in charge. I don’t let fate decide my future. I DECIDE.
So here I am, today, telling anyone who wishes to read an experience I had at an audition, which may help you be more inventive and creative, when your in an audition. And really dazzle in the audition. Or job interview. It would work with that too.

The audition was for an amature film maker and the place was in a bar. There was a left over sandwich crust on a table next to us, I started off talking about a sandwich. I didn’t plan to talk about it. I was just been aware of my surroundings. I asked the question. “Do you know the history behind the sandwich?” (pointing to the left over crust on a plate)
When they both replied no. I told them this story from the top of my head which was believable. I mentioned that “a guy from germany, moved to Norwich in 1870 his name was sandhirst. He came up with this idea for cutting the bread in half and putting a filling with it. Throughout my research I discovered that the first thing he tried for a filling was the meat off a pork chop. He was thinking of names he could call this innovation, and what came to mind was sandwich, which is the begining of his surname, and the ending of where he lived, Then it became a business and he lived a successful life” they believed the story, asked what made me tell it, I told them, “the sandwich did” one of them asked the question “what made you research where the sandwich came from, what was interesting.” and then I told them, “because it’s an important piece of knowledge”. I then I told them “I must confess that I made it up.”

That was more or less the story. Not exactly how I mentioned it word for word. The one i said lasted about 5 or so minutes. The sandwich isn’t the important item, I could have told about the chair or bar stool or the bar, it was showing truly believable acting. And if your creative and good at the art of acting, then you can get people believing anything. This story I told them, it got them talking, asking more questions about me. Which is good. It’s showing that they are interested. It was an ice breaker. Casting directors, if they don’t seem to be rushing or on time constraint. Then they are interested. And don’t get me wrong. Casting directors are very time restricted. Some only allow 5 minutes per audition from when you walk in, and if they give you 6 minutes then think it as a good sign. If they want you to say a line a different way in a heightened emotion, it’s a great sign too, they are still interested. Then really go over the top. If it’s too much they will say do it again with a little less. Anyway 20 or so minutes of talking took place, then I did a few lines of a script. And the day after i got the phone call for the part to play. I was so pleased with myself, with it been the first part I had ever got. I was shocked. Happy. And really great feeling started to emerge. And from the first audition I ever did. That was amazing.

The reason behind me doing it was to break the ice. And get them talking. Cos when people talk, it makes a whole lot of difference.
